AN ANALYTICAL VIEW ON THE NARRATIVITY OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE PHILOSOPHICAL HERITAGE OF N. S. YULINA
Annotation
The article examines N. S. Yulina’s views on the narrativity of consciousness through
the prism of analytical philosophy. The significant influence of Yulina on the formation of
the Russian tradition of analytical philosophizing is noted, her academic contribution and
role in the formation of modern researchers are outlined. Yulina, through an analysis of the
philosophy of D. Dennett and his ideas about the narrative self, offers a critical interpretation
of the positions stated by the author. The article reveals the characteristic features of AngloAmerican philosophical naturalism, presented in the works of Yulina: focus on natural sciences,
causal closure of the Universe, ontological monism. The argumentative basis of Yulina for
identifying implicit metaphysics in the naturalistic philosophy of Dennett is considered, and
the procedural evolutionist nature of the proposed solution is emphasized. It is shown that
the narrative self in the stated ontology is a functional part of the evolutionary machine. The
practical usefulness of the perspective of considering the ontological positions of Dennett,
proposed by Yulina, is revealed, primarily for the theoretical and methodological foundations
of psychotherapeutic activity. The epistemological consequences of the metaphysical system
are described, and the role of culture and language is emphasized. The practical significance
of Dennett’s position on narrative practices, identified by Yulina, is indicated, in particular,
the return of dialogue psychotherapy to legitimacy within the framework of a naturalistic
picture of the world.
