Annotation

The article presents the results of a study of the text of Hemingway’s novel The Garden of Eden and discusses the main concepts that influence the formation of spatial and temporal systems of literary text. These concepts reflect the originality of post-war prose, in general, and the features of Hemingway’s prose, in particular. Hemingway’s prose is distinguished by its telegraphic style, brevity, and musicality, close attention to the smallest linguistic nuances, also for this artistic narrative. The speech distortions that Hemingway uses are similar to the principles of organizing musical space that modern post-avant-garde musicians use, applied in post-spectralist music. Linguistic distortions and other concepts are a special case of the realization of the reverse perspective used for works of naive art and icon painting. . Concepts such as accumulation, animation, form with windows, genetic transformation, the emergence of music from silence, which influence the formation of views on modern music and determine its specifics, are also applicable to the analysis of Hemingway’s late work.
