Annotation
Fyodor Dostoevsky’s legacy is both literary and philosophical. For classical philosophy, in
which the Russian writer thought, the subject was the absolute unity of the universe, which was
revealed through the dialectics of thought and being. The development of the idea of absolute
freedom in the history of philosophy, which was influenced by Christian thought, raised the
question of the unity of the essence and meaning of the absolute. In German idealism, this
unity was defined in relation to the concept of absolute goodness, while in Dostoevsky’s work,
it was achieved through the assertion of the value of universal harmony in the universe for
humans and the congruence of this harmony with their freedom. The philosopher associated
the path to this truth with the name of Christ.
