Annotation
Based on the work of Ivan Bunin and the so-called village writers of the 1960s and
1980s, the article examines the spiritual and moral ties that existed between these writers,
between the intentions that appear in their texts. In the course of the work, it is shown that,
just as Ivan Bunin, who was forced to emigrate, far from his homeland, suffered, languished,
and explicated in his work the motives of farewell, memory, and love for the past, so village
writers, seemingly remaining within their native country, nevertheless they demonstrated the
aggravation of the same motives in their work—the motives of saying goodbye to their native
village community, to the Russian village going back in time, the motives of memory of the
past and the outgoing. Thus, the objective emigration of one conditionally found continuation
in the internal subjective emigration of others. Historically, different epochs, as shown in the
work, actualized kindred motives imbued with deep love for the Fatherland, reliance on its
past and spiritual faith in its revival.
