RUSSIAN ABROAD OF THE FORTIES OF THE LAST CENTURY AND THE SOVIETISM OF N. A. BERDYAEV
Annotation
The article considers the public position of N. A. Berdyaev, in the forties of the XX
century, when his patriotism took the form of open sympathy for Soviet socialism. This
caused sharp criticism from the Russian diaspora, most of whom are anti- Soviet. Assessing
modernity as a crisis ending of the telluric period of world history, Berdyaev considers it
possible to overcome the crisis through social reconstruction (similar to how it is in Soviet
Russia), guided by the values of the new prophetic Christianity, the understanding of which
was proposed by Russian thought in the last third of the XIX — early XX centuries. These
circumstances allow the philosopher to think about the mission role of Russia in the movement
of the world towards a new era.
