CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY IN THE DISCOURSE OF POLITICAL REALISM
Annotation
The article considers a set of conditions for the relevance of modern Christian theological
thought in terms of accompanying and supporting the discourse of political realism in the United States of America. The article presents a set of problems and challenges in the system
of international relations, the ideological foundations for the formation of a strategy for the
implementation of foreign policy. Based on the analysis of the ideas of famous American
theologians, philosophers and political scientists Morgenthau, Niebuhr, Carr, Smith, the
ideological basis of neorealism, the essence of American foreign policy strategy is revealed. The
approach to the implementation of the modern American foreign policy strategy is revealed,
the importance of Catholic socio- political thought addressed to the modern state, attempts are
made to analyze the foreign policy decisions of states in the light of the theological Christian
heritage. The study and analysis of the socio- political thought of Catholic and Protestant
theology demonstrates a certain ideological influence on human nature, the state and the
system of international relations. The importance of Christian traditions in substantiating
human freedom, his rights and the tasks of the state in ensuring them is stated.
