Once again to the question of A. Herzen’s socialism
Annotation
The article examines the peculiarities of Herzen’s understanding of the problem of implementing socialism, his views on the moral and social transformation of society, and the influence of early French socialists on his thoughts. Herzen emphasizes the uniqueness of “Russian socialism” based on the ideals of freedom, equality and mutual assistance, criticizing bourgeois society for its commercialism and offering a path of development through enlightenment and spiritual self-improvement. The article highlights Herzen as a thinker who focuses on the importance of individual freedom and moral development as conditions for the implementation of socialism. The author argues that throughout his ideological evolution, Herzen understands socialism as a radical moral transformation designed to solve the problem of personality and society. Herzen’s ideas about socialism bring him closer to the tradition of social Christianity in Russia.
