Sacred places (sacred groves) in the paganism of Russia in the religious and socio-cultural dimension
Annotation
Paganism is one of the oldest religious forms, which has retained its influence and importance in the lives of a considerable part of Russian citizens of different nationalities, and is one of the most important elements of the identification set of a modern person: gender, nationality, culture, language, etc. Places that are designed to perform special religious practices, which we call ritual. They are also included in the religious identification set of a person as one of its elements. For followers of paganism in Russia, in its various forms, such places are, among others, sacred groves, which play a special role in the life of a religious person, are brought out of a profane state and sacralized, acquire special ontological and axiological properties. Modern Russian paganism is one of the many religious trends in the multireligious space of modern Russia, it can be classified, but it is not reduced and is not something unified, institutionally homogeneous. It is multidimensional, monoethnic and polyethnic, monic and polytheistic, rural and urban, some areas of paganism have gone beyond the borders of Russia (for example, shamanism), and some pagan trends that originated abroad, on the contrary, have become part of the Russian religious space (for example, Wicca).
