Globalization as a natural desire of the peoples of the world for rapprochement has now reached certain limits. Its further development according to the imposed Euro-Atlantic model by the method of Westernization ran into the expected and natural resistance of national states seeking to preserve their sovereignty and cultural, mental, spiritual identity. At the same time, the desire to nationally separate and mentally/culturally stand out and survive is realized in parallel with the desire to establish an intercivilizational dialogue and not lose the results achieved within the framework of globalization interaction. The purpose of this study is to analyze and reveal the significant elements of spiritual and moral evolution in Russia, as well as to critically comprehend the manifestations of the destructive impact on them, including through the mechanism of discredit. The following scientific methods and approaches were used in the article: generalization, interpretation, system analysis. Modern Russia, as one of the leading players on the world stage, faces serious threats to its spiritual, moral, mental and cultural identity. At the same time, timely and effective protection against discredit as a method of “soft power” of such important elements of spiritual security as culture, traditional confessions and the Russian language is able to ensure the sovereignty of the state and its people both in domestic relations and in foreign policy.
