CONTINUITY OF SOIL-FOCUS IDEAS IN SOVIET VILLAGE PROSE
Annotation
The article examines the continuity of soil-folk ideas in Soviet village prose of the 1950s-1980s. The term “pochvennichestvo” is defined, its philosophical foundations and key values are revealed. The analysis of the works of leading authors of this trend is conducted: Fyodor Abramov, Vasily Shukshin, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Vasily Belov, Valentin Rasputin, Viktor Astafyev and others. The central motifs that bring Soviet writers closer to the traditions of pre-revolutionary soil-folk are revealed: sacralization of the native land, the image of the people’s righteous man, the conflict of generations, criticism of urbanization and technocratic progress, preservation of historical memory and traditional way of life. It is emphasized that village prose acted as a successor of pochvennichestvo ideas in the changed social conditions, despite the censorship restrictions of the Soviet era. The obtained results are compared with the position of modern literary scholars, the reasons for the coincidences and differences in assessments are shown. A conclusion is made about the significant role of village prose in preserving the Russian national and cultural tradition.
